Every local purchase has a significant impact on our community.
Welcome to One Ridgway
One Ridgway is an initiative to encourage, reward and celebrate your local purchases.
How it works
One Ridgway participants make 2 or more “step-up” purchases each month. A step-up purchase is a purchase from a local business or professional that you have never been to, or increased patronage to a business that you frequent. The guidelines are not strict. The goal is for you to be connecting in new and increased ways with local businesses.
Then simply go to the One Ridgway Facebook page to post and share your step-up activity, ideally with an image or video. We also encourage you to write a formal online review for the business on sites like TripAdvisor, Yelp or Google reviews.
The campaign will celebrate your activity when you reach 2+ step-up purchases each month.
Every month two select participants (hopefully you!) receive prizes from our local businesses and all participants are publically recognized on our Facebook page and on our website.
If you would prefer not to use Facebook, you can email us your step-up activity. Please send to email@example.com
Don’t want to Facebook post or email your activity?
No problem. We encourage you to simply Think Community First and step-up your engagement with local businesses however you can. This is the most important thing you can do to support.
No problem. While the campaign is focused on local residents, we encourage everyone, including visitors, to participate, support, and share your Ridgway experience. And thank you for visiting us!
Are you a local business and want to participate?
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will follow up with all the ways you can participate, highlight your business and support the success of One Ridgway.
Thank you for supporting our local businesses and participating in One Ridgway!
Why it matters
When you spend $100 at a local Ridgway business, approximately $68 is reinvested into our community.
When you spend $100 at an out-of-county merchant, $0 are invested in our community.1
How is my local purchase reinvested?
Local purchases support local salaries (our friends and neighbors’ salaries), which in turn, supports our friends and neighbors local purchases.
Local businesses support their own growth by making purchases from other local merchants. This includes professional services like accounting, construction, and website design, and local supply purchases like printing as well as local produce and meat for our restaurants.
The town of Ridgway’s primary revenue source is sales tax. Therefore, your local purchases directly support all of the town services that we rely on as a community, including water and sewer, local roads, infrastructure and maintenance, police and emergency services, and our town parks. All of these services are dependent on local purchasing activity.
Ridgway is fortunate to have a vibrant nonprofit community supporting many important causes. Local businesses are a primary donor to our local nonprofits, therefore our local nonprofits’ success is dependent on our local businesses’ success.
When you purchase elsewhere, none of these benefits and reinvestments are realized. So for your next purchase, we encourage you to think local.
1 Approximate 68% reinvestment rate validated by several national studies, including 2008 Civic Economics Study, “Local Works!”
These community members are stepping-up each month to support our local businesses and our community as a whole. We offer our tremendous gratitude for their support and engagement in One Ridgway!
We encourage you to think community first.
