RACC has held an annual golf tournament for the past six years, however the Ridgway Chamber Open is a new name and it has a new mission – “Going for the Green in support of local business!” Beginning this year, one hundred percent of net proceeds of the event, including sponsorships and donations, will be returned directly to local business.
In the midst of the Ramp Up project, Ridgway is undergoing a series of outside upgrades. Keeping with this theme, the Chamber will run a grant program that provides small matching grants to brick-and-mortar members for outside upgrade projects, such as new signage, fresh paint, outdoor lighting, improved entryways, etc. These external improvements will positively impact the entire business community. The specifics of this year’s grants will be announced after the event as the available funding for grants will be determined entirely by the net proceeds from sponsorship, registration fees and donations. Sponsors and players are directly advancing the local business community and the community as a whole.
Going forward, every year a new grant theme will be determined by a vote from RACC membership. We look forward to the Ridgway Chamber Open becoming an ongoing way to bring direct value to the local business community.

Captain’s Choice Scramble
The 18-hole tournament is a shotgun start, scramble format. Here's how the scramble format works (using 4-person teams):
- Golfers A, B, C and D all hit drives. They compare the results. Who hit the best drive? Let's say it was B.
- So Golfers A, C and D pick up their golf balls and move them to where B's ball is. All four now hit their second shots from the location of B's drive.
- Compare the results of those second shots. Which was best? The others on the team move their balls to that spot, and all play their third strokes.
- Repeat until the ball is in the hole.
The team’s designated “captain” has the final say on ball choice during play. They are also entrusted with keeping the play moving, ensuring the accuracy of the team score cards and signing off on the team’s final score.
Mulligans are available for purchase ($10/each and limit 2 per player, 8 per team). Purchase can be made directly during the online registration process.
The most important thing is that folks have fun! ☺
There are prize opportunities from first to last place, so everyone really does win!
The Ridgway Chamber Open will have dozens of prizes and a new trophy! This includes team prizes for placement across the whole scoreboard from hole #1 to #18, as well as Hole-in-One and Longest Drive challenges. These are all made possible by the generous contributions from local business.
Sponsorship and Donations
Sponsors directly advance the local business community and community as a whole. Through the new grant-making process, RACC is able to provide sponsors with significant, ongoing visibility benefits. Most sponsorship tiers also include player registrations.
Sponsorships and donations can also be made securely through the RidgwayColorado.com website.
Thank you in advance for your partnership and support!
