From our well-known Railroad Museum to the growing Ouray County Ranch History Museum, Ridgway has a lot of history packed into our little town. Within short drives to neighboring towns, you can also learn about mining, the Utes and other local history.
Celebrate the history and the living culture of Colorado's longest continuous residents at the Ute Indian Museum in Montrose, Colorado. The museum features one of the most extensive collections of Ute ethnographic objects in existence and works by contemporary Ute artists, and was expanded and reopens June 10, 2017. Also in Montrose, just about 40 minutes from Ridgway, the Museum of the Mountain West has a collection of frontier buildings and guided tours to learn about the pioneering history of the early settlers in Colorado.
