Ridgway State Park
This beautiful park, created with the Ridgway Reservoir at its heart, offers breathtaking scenery, three campgrounds with modern amenities, three cozy yurts for overnight stays, playgrounds, and group event facilities. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the many hiking and biking trails along with birding and wildlife viewing opportunities. The park is a favorite for fishing, boating, kayaking, windsurfing, standup paddle boarding, picnicking, and swimming. Dogs are welcome in the park, as long as they stay with their owners at all times. Even two rental yurts are pet-friendly.
Education programs for the public begin on Memorial Day weekend and go throughout the summer each year. Program dates and times can be found on the park's Facebook page.
The Park Visitor Center has many items that it lends for free to make trips more fun: fishing poles and tackle; life jackets; and "Family Activity Backpacks" fully equipped with journals, binoculars, magnifiers, guidebooks and magnifying bug boxes, along with suggested activities and fun facts sheets. If interested in borrowing any of these items, contact a ranger or inquire at the Visitor Center.
