Join Weehawken Creative Arts and Cheri Isgreen for a watercolor workshop series offered quarterly. These workshops are designed to help you build confidence and skill as a painter. With expert guidance, Cheri will share techniques, approaches, and strategies in a supportive, hands-on environment where you can develop your unique artistic voice. Each session focuses on a specific aspect of watercolor painting through instruction, experimentation, and exploration. Expect engaging discussions, collaborative work, and encouraging critiques—all designed to transform your paintings. Session 1: Understanding Pigments & Color Theory A strong foundation in color and pigment properties is essential for any accomplished painter. Walk into an art supply store and you’ll find a vast array of pigment options—each with unique characteristics like hue, transparency, staining, and temperature. But do you know the difference between cadmium red and pyrrol scarlet? In this session, you’ll work with an "essential palette" of six carefully selected pigments, learning how each behaves individually and interacts with others to create a rich variety of effects. All professional-grade materials are provided, including: Winsor & Newton 140 lb. cold press paper A curated selection of flat and round brushes High-quality professional watercolor paints (You're welcome to bring your own supplies, but please plan to use the Essential Palette for this session.) About Cheri Isgreen: Cheri Isgreen is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, known for her original vision in art. For Cheri, creating art is a deeply meditative practice—an expression of gratitude for the immense beauty in her life. She finds great joy in the power and grace of horses, the luminous colors and diverse forms of in nature, and the warm embrace of family and friends. With a fearless approach to art, Cheri embraces the freedom to mix media and compose with bold colors and strong values. Each new piece takes her deeper into visual expression, where she explores the infinite patterns and shapes created by light striking form. Her process begins with immersive value studies, allowing her to paint and sculpt freely and intuitively. In watercolor, she applies pigment directly to the paper allowing color to spontaneously coalesce into uniquely rich mixtures. Her use of color and value create dynamic compositions. Cheri’s paintings evoke a sense of mystery and narrative, carefully balancing what is explicitly defined, subtly suggested, and left to the viewer’s imagination—inviting them to find their own stories within her work. With years of teaching experience, Cheri shares her passion for art through through teaching classes, presenting demos, and exhibiting widely.
