Colorado Creative Corridor

The Colorado Creative Corridor travels some 331 miles through a handful of state-certified Creative District destinations including Carbondale, Crested Butte, Paonia, Ridgway and Salida. These five towns combine to offer a collective experience of unique event programming and activities, alongside mountain town eclecticism, majestic vistas and outdoor recreation, and authentic Colorado mountain culture.

As the birthplace and early headquarters of the famed Rio Grande Southern Railroad, the town of Ridgway is a center point for discovering the West’s rail history. Located on the northern edge of the rugged San Juan Mountains, the town and the surrounding area relied on trains including the Denver & Rio Grande and Silverton Railroads for the development of mining, ranching and agriculture. On any clear moonless night, you can expect to see four to eight meteors per hour in the skies above Ridgway. Our town is an International Dark Sky Community as well as being located next to the International Dark Sky Park of Top of the Pines, because we protect our night sky views by limiting lighting and glare that causes stars and planets to disappear.
