Chipeta Solar Springs Resort & Spa recognized as RACC April 2022 Member of the Month

Chipeta Solar Springs Resort & Spa is being recognized as the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce (RACC) April 2022 Member of the Month. The Member of the Month program is an ongoing effort by the chamber to provide the community and visitors with information about businesses and organizations in the area and promote patronage of our local resources and small, independent companies.

When did the resort open, and why in Ridgway?

Chipeta Resort opened in 1994 as a 12-room bed and breakfast (Chipeta SunLodge), as Jack Young and partners were developing the Solar Ranches neighborhood on the south side of Ridgway. The lodge facilitated hosting potential buyers from out of town and friends and family visiting the region.

How was the beautiful architecture and design developed?

Chipeta was originally inspired by honoring the original occupants of the Uncompahgre River Valley, the Ute Tribe and Chipeta, wife of Chief Ouray specifically. After a trip to Mesa Verde, inspired by the southwestern rockwork and circular kivas, Jack designed the original lodge building, a true adobe structure.

Please tell us about your rooms.

Jack is the architect/builder and expanded the resort with a new building every few years. Among the current 33 rooms, there is a variety of accommodations from single rooms to rooms with private hot tubs and gas fireplaces, most with a view and an outside deck.

What spa services and facilities are the most popular?

The Spa is the heart of the resort and has remained open throughout the pandemic, offering massage, couples massage, aromatherapy, and soon-to-come-back facials and body treatments. Other amenities at the resort are two solar-heated pools, yoga, and Tai chi, offered in the Kiva Wednesday through Sunday. The Kiva is a circular event space, inspired by Native American gathering spaces, where we hold retreats, meetings, wedding receptions, music events, and more.

What is new and happening at Four Corners Restaurant in Chipeta?

The Four Corners Restaurant is open year round to guests, locals and the public, while the popular rooftop Sky Bar with its stunning views is open during warmer weather. Four Corners serves breakfast daily and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Chef Stefan ensures a good meal and good time for all. Tuesday is Pasta Night, Wednesday Burger Night, and Thursday is Sushi Night, with live music every Wednesday and Friday evening.

Do you have any specials or deals this spring?

We frequently have specials from fall to spring where you can get five nights for the price of four. Other specials, including spa and adventure packages, are also offered during summer months of the year. Please check the website or call us for current offerings.

What do you value from being a Ridgway Chamber member?

As a founding member of RACC, we value the exposure to both tourists and locals that chamber membership provides.
