Who is the business owner?
Peak Mountain Guides was founded in 2008, and has been owned by Lance Sullins since 2018. Lance is passionate about climbing and skiing, and strives to help clients and staff meet their goals.
Which activities do you guide?
We guide rock, ice, and alpine climbing, and backcountry skiing. Peak specializes in listening to our guests and creating custom trips based on each individual’s profile.
What levels of outdoor adventurers do you serve?
One primary value of climbing or skiing with a guide is their ability to tailor the objective to the client’s desired level of difficulty. We enjoy the mountains with first-time climbers, experienced climbers and skiers, and everyone in between.
What is most important for people to consider when selecting a guide?
It may surprise you to hear guides are individuals who are all different! There’s a minimum standard emerging in our industry referred to as “AMGA Scope of Practice” established by the American Mountain Guides Association. Choosing a guide service who adheres to “SOP” and takes the time to ask you questions about your experience, motivations, and interests are important things to consider.
What’s new at Peak Mountain Guides for 2020?
Like most everyone else, Peak as a company is learning on the fly to navigate life and business in a pandemic. Growth and financial goals have shifted to a focus of the well-being of our staff and community.
Do you have any deals happening right now?
Peak offers a year-round 10% discount to Ouray and Ridgway residents.
