Tell me the story of River Peak Dental.
Dr. Poe has been practicing dentistry since 2011 and is a graduate from Loma Linda School of Dentistry. Dr. Poe and his wife Misti opened doors to River Peak Dental in November 2016. We wanted to serve the mountain communities with not only excellent quality care, but also with the latest advances in technology. Ridgway has been a great place for us and are excited to continue caring for our community.
What is a typical day like at the River Peak Dental?
A typical day at River Peak Dental includes lots & lots of caffeine! Our team works extremely hard from the moment they walk in the door to the moment they leave for the day. You can expect to be greeted with a warm smile and friendly attitude while checking in for your appointment. You can expect short wait times in our comfortable lounge, while watching the latest Netflix series and enjoying a cup of coffee or sparkling water. Our team will personally call you by name as they walk you back to the opertory for your dental cleaning or procedure. Once seated, you also have the chance to pick your favorite show to watch on the monitor above you, enjoy a warm neck pillow and blanket to make certain you are fully comfortable. Dr. Poe will not only make you laugh with his dad jokes, but is invested in working diligently to ensure your smile is something you are proud of!
What does your team do on days off?
On days off, you can find our team skiing the slopes of Telluride, adventuring on the Western slope with kayaks & paddleboards, spending time with our friends and families. We also love to do fun team events that always include Minute-To-Win-It games...it gets a little competitive!

River Peak Dental is proud to offer something specific to our office that you can't find anywhere else, our Dental Savers Plan! This plan is for anyone who doesn't have traditional dental insurance and for just $365 per year, gets you 2 FREE cleanings, all xrays and exams FREE, Fluoride FREE, plus 10-30% OFF for all procedures...its often times better than what any insurance can do, yet there are no yearly maximums, no deductibles, no waiting periods, no pre-approvals! We also accept all insurance, give us a call and we will ensure you have Out of Network benefits to utilize in our practice! Lastly, we also offer extended payment plans as well as Care Credit...so many options!
What is your biggest challenge, what are your biggest rewards?
Our greatest challenge is oftentimes patient education. Trying to cultivate knowledge and the WHY behind oral health can be really difficult, but one of the most important things we do for our patients. At the same time, one of our greatest rewards is when patients fully comprehend what we are teaching them and then use that knowledge to teach their spouses, children, loved ones. It's a full circle moment when our patients are excited to talk about teeth and how much they love their new electronic Sonicare toothbrush after 60 years of using a manual one! Another huge reward are smile designs! We have patients that have waited a lifetime to have the smile they are delighted with, and we can create that. From digital implant supported dentures to full mouth rehabs, Dr. Poe can do it all in-house without our patients ever having to leave Ridgway...its amazing what advances in technology allow us to do!
