Why the name STEPS?
In the town of Ridgway you are only a few steps away from anywhere you’re wanting to go, especially if you’re wanting to go to the tavern. Also, like any small town local bar establishment we are just a handful of steps down some steps where you can enjoy pool, darts, foosball, live sports and more. We also have our outdoor location open in the warmer season known as The Patio at Steps Tavern which is walking distance from most places downtown.

How long has your business been open and what is your favorite part about being in Ridgway?
I officially opened in May 2016. The best part of being a business owner in Ridgway is being a part of the fabric of this community. I’m in touch with so many locals, many of which are business owners themselves. My favorite part of running the tavern is being able to be there for people during big moments of their lives such as birthdays, retirements, weddings and other celebrations.

Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend. Can you please tell us a bit more about the wing challenge you have going?
Absolutely! The Hot One’s Challenge that you see on television with celebrities like Gordon Ramsey, Pedro Pascal and Scarlett Johansson is the popular kit that we carry. We are in our second year of hosting this challenge. There are a variety of ten sauces each one increasing in heat as competitors work through the challenge. It’s $25 to participate and we encourage folks to bring milk or ice cream to support against the heat!

What else would you like visitors and locals to know about STEPS Tavern?
We are continuously having events and ways for the community to gather together. Right now we have our Monday Whiskey of the Week, Tuesday Dart Night leagues, Wednesday Karaoke and Thursday is free pool. We also just started a Chess Night.
5. Any special shout outs before we let you go?
Yes, shout out to my upstairs business neighbors Joe and Nicole of Taco Del Gnar and their whole crew. It's awesome to have such a good relationship after 9 years of being neighbors.
Also, Tate Rogers of Rogers Real Estate for giving me the opportunity, in the space to start STEPS and being a solid friend and landlord to us for almost a decade.
Lastly, we want to thank the Ridgway Marshalls who always stop in to say 'Hi', catch up and be sure things are safe. We appreciate their presence.
Natalie and I are forever grateful to this community and all the love and support we've received over the many years. God Bless and many thanks to you all.
