Now Accepting Student Applications
Please open and download the Apprenticeship Packet to learn about the businesses that are offering apprenticeships this summer, the jobs and the application process.
The Ridgway Chamber recognizes that local business success is predicated on local talent. As a community, our first priority talent pipeline should be our local students. In an effort to support our local businesses' long-term, talent pipeline and better connect our youth with the business community, the Chamber has launched the Ridgway Youth Apprenticeship Program.
Funding for this initiative is made possible by the generous support of our golf tournament sponsors. Please learn more about these local businesses and individuals here.
The program provides scholarship-based apprenticeships to students from Ridgway Schools in their junior or senior year. Students will have a specific job with a local member business and will receive ongoing training and professional development above and beyond a traditional summer job.
In exchange for providing training and professional development, the business will receive sponsorship funding to support adding to their staffing capacity during the busy summer months. Businesses will also receive visibility via Chamber communications, including press releases, social media and the RidgwayColorado.com website. Businesses will also be developing potential future talent/employees and supporting their community's youth. Youth will receive scholarship funding, real-world job training and professional development and a unique resume booster.
Determined entirely by the net proceeds of the Ridgway Chamber Open, in 2019 the Chamber will sponsor three Youth Apprenticeships. Each apprenticeship will receive $1,200 in funding, which will be divided evenly between the business and apprentice ($600 each). This sponsorship funding for the student will be in addition to the regular compensation of the summer job.
