  • Ridgway, Colorado is a welcoming, community-minded rural town situated in a beautiful mountain valley. We support learning, creativity and culture. We share a deep connection to the outdoors. We are committed to being economically sustainable and ecologically responsible.

A quiet western town with charismatic energy – Ridgway was founded in 1890, as the headquarters of the world famous Rio Grande Southern narrow gauge railroad serving the area’s rich silver and gold mines, ranches and farms. Today local museums and events preserve the history of the now defunct railroad and the heritage of traditional ranching lifestyles. The remaining pastures surrounded by public lands and wilderness provide picturesque habitat for an amazing wildlife presence, from the elk and deer to the diverse birds and bald eagles. Trails for walkers, hikers, bikers and winter sports enthusiasts criss cross the area, creating an outdoor adventure wonderland. At the center of it all is downtown Ridgway, the hub of arts, entertainment, wellness activities, education and a vibrant "foodie" culture.

  • While summer is a popular time to visit Ridgway, most activities are also offered throughout the fall, winter and spring. The Ridgway area has world-class biking, hiking, fishing and other outdoor recreation options all year round, plus snow sports for several months. Our lively music and theater scene provides weekly afternoon and evening entertainment and classes. While history museum hours are limited from fall to spring, they are open by appointment, plus several picturesque historic sites are accessible all year. If you enjoy a dip in the springs, a massage or other spa services, they can be even more comforting when the air is crisp outside and landscapes are covered in snow or colored brightly by fall leaves and spring blossoms. And don’t forget about our restaurants, every season you can enjoy diverse menus with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and creative dishes.

  • The Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce promotes business and community development in the Town of Ridgway and the surrounding area. The chamber operates the Visitors Center, which is open from May 1 through October 1 and is located at 150 Racecourse Road, Ridgway, Colorado 81432 (across from Citizens Bank off of HWY 62).
